Principal’s Report

NAPLAN is over

We are very proud of our Year 3 and 5 students who completed their NAPLAN assessments with very little trouble. The group of Year 5s in the photo were very calm and relaxed before one of their tests.

Now we wait for results that will provide teaching staff with rich information to support and progress students across Year 3 and 5. Parents and Carers will also receive information as to how the child is fairing in comparison to their cohort and with their learning across the years.

Chocolate Fund Raiser

Thank you to everyone who helped contribute to fundraising for the school Library and Pre-primary playground. As a result of all your efforts we have raised $1600. There are still 25 boxes remaining, so it is not too late to buy up for Easter. Students will be able to purchase chocolates for $1.00 at the sausage sizzle. Next term the school will run a lap-a-thon to continue our fundraising efforts.

Cygnets

Cygnets will be starting again next term on the Thursday 4 May in week 2. Please contact and enrol at the front office to be part of the pre-Kindy program for 2023. Once again, the wonderful Mrs Bedells will run the program at the Child Parent Centre.

Three Way Conferences

In term 2 we hold three-way conferences in or around week 9. It is a wonderful opportunity for parents to meet with both the child and the teacher to discuss how they are going midway through the year and possible goals. A timetable will come out closer to the time with the day your teacher is scheduling meetings.

Staffing Term 2

Next term I will be away on long service leave. Over that time Karen Sullivan will take on the role of acting Principal. Karen has been a Deputy at MSPS for quite a few years and understands what makes the school run well. She is a calm and compassionate staff member who will make good decisions for the school.

While Karen sits in my seat Kylie Todd will take on the role of Deputy Principal. Then in her place in Room 4.3 Tracey Duncan will cover Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

I look forward to seeing everyone again at the beginning of term 3.

Kind regards
Frances Coventry
Principal

Saver Plus – helping take the stress out of back-to-school time

The Saver Plus community program has helped over 55,000 Australians take the stress out of back-to-school time. It’s free for eligible people to join.

At Saver Plus, we pair you with a savings coach while you budget and save over the next 10 months. You attend online workshops to learn tips, tricks and information to grow your budgeting and savings skills. Once you reach your agreed savings goal, ANZ matches your savings dollar-for-dollar, up to $500. You can use that money towards education costs such as uniforms, textbooks, laptops or extra-curricular activities such as sport or music.

You could be eligible to join Saver Plus if you:

  • have a Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card
  • are at least 18 years old
  • have some regular income from work (you or your partner) including casual, part-time, full-time or seasonal (we also accept child support and carer’s payment as income)
  • have a child at school or attend vocational education yourself.

If you’re eligible, start now and we’ll help take the stress out of next year’s back to school.
