Principal’s Report
It is hard to believe the 2023 year is coming to an end. But it is, and coming to the busiest time of the year also.
Year 6 Plans
Due to illness the Year 6 Leadership Day was pushed back to week 6. The Year 6 Graduation Assembly and Graduation Excursion have swapped dates also. The Assembly will be on Tuesday 12 December week 10 and the Excursion will be on Friday week 9.
Library
The new furniture for the Library has been installed and looks great. Collectively, the school community has contributed $16000, from the Spellathon and Lapathon, towards the refurbishment of the Library and what a difference it has made. We are so grateful for everyone’s contribution. There is new carpet yet to be installed which will finish off, and highlight, the total refurbishment. Currently work is underway with re shelving books and sorting through old resources, which is a big job.

Middle Swan Face Book page – www.facebook.com/Middleswanps/
Middle Swan Primary School face book is up and running again. It is the place to keep up with some activities around the school. Copy and paste the page outlined above. Connect still continues to be the main platform for school reports, class messages and the newsletter.
2024 Planning
We are currently beginning to organise classes for 2024. School staff make decisions about class placements based on their professional knowledge of each child, individual issues and education assistant requirements. However, if you believe we need to place your child in a particular class now is your opportunity to make a request. Whist we may take your request into consideration there is no guarantee it will be fulfilled. Please make your request in writing no later than Friday 30 November and leave at the front office.
If you are moving and your child/children will go to a new school please let us know so we can factor this in to our class lists planning for next year.
- Booklists and contributions and charges information will be out very soon. Those documents are already online at Campion. You may need the paper version for guidelines on how to make orders.
- Campion will not be delivering orders to the school site so families will need to pick up or have it delivered to home.
- You can pay for the text books your children will need in 2024 but the school will distribute them.
- Campion will NOT give you the texts.
- You can pay your school levy of $30 i.e. voluntary contribution, at Campion.
Parent Information
Carnaby’s Crusaders visit 6.4
On Wednesday 11 October, students in classroom 6.4 were treated with an incursion from Carnaby's Crusaders. Dean and his team are dedicated to increasing the numbers of endangered Red-Tail cockatoos and Carnaby's cockatoos throughout Australia. Students in 6.4 got to meet 'Mango' and 'Jedda', and learn about how their environment is under threat, and how artificial nests are helping to increase the black cockatoo population.

Kindy Obstacle-a-thon 2023
What a great time with our Kindy Obstacle-a-thon. The children worked very hard going around many times on our super-sized obstacle course, they then enjoyed a well-earned treat supplied by Mrs DeMascio.
Thank you to those that donated money which will be used for the amazing Library upgrade.

Design and Technologies in 2.3
This term in Design and Technologies, the students in 2.3 designed their very own horse stable. We have been learning all about what horses need for survival. Students were given a variety of materials to create a design first, which they then followed closely to build their stable. They did a marvellous job!

2023 Cygnets
Next year’s kindy children are practicing coming to Kindy Thursday mornings with Mrs Bedells while the parents have a cuppa in the hub!

Map work in 2.5
The children in 2.5 have the opportunity to learn about maps on Wednesdays as part of the HASS (Geography) curriculum. They have been enjoying learning how to create and to use pictorial maps to get from place to place and to identify familiar places in their locality. Lots of fun and consolidation of their learning is happening with a range of engaging tabletop activities.
It would be a great idea to get some maps out at home too and explore the different features represented.
